Katie Jackson looks very unassuming as she slowly walks into the church and slides quietly onto the 3rd row with her cane in hand, so little would one know what a mighty woman of God this lady has been for Rock Church the last 30+ years! Although those that have met her most recently might know she was the church’s bookkeeper until the past year, only a core group and the pastor himself know what a goldmine lay inside her. Once credentialed with the Assemblies of God, she loved singing and preaching anywhere the Lord opened a door. However, throughout her years here she served in many areas faithfully: *Cleaning the building *Nursery *Children’s Church *Worship Team *Women’s Ministry *Prayer Group *Home Group *Greeting and *Advisory Council. She’s participated in plays, given to missionaries and donated her accounting expertise whenever necessary. (Catch your breath because that’s just what she did “inside” the church!) She was also involved in Outreach at many levels from reaching out to our community by helping with Harvest Festivals and Easter Egg Hunts to Prison Ministry and running a Home for Women. Although Katie was usually the first to open her home to any new guests who came to the church with her delicious after Sunday dinners, she also opened her home to the homeless and women just out of prison to help them get back on their feet and become part of society again – this time with a firm foundation implanted in their hearts from the Christian discipleship she administered to them. Katie was awarded Rock Church’s 1st Woman of the Year Award in 2014 by the Women’s Ministry. She has generously given of her time, talent and treasure and continues to do so. Only heaven will be able to tell of the hundreds of lives that have been changed through her life and ministry.
